Moscow (EFE).-<\/strong> The Kremlin stated this Friday that it expects to receive new proposals to resolve the conflict in Ukraine after noting that the commitments reached a year ago at the Alaska summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are unacceptable to Kyiv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We remain open to proposals, to discussions. Of course, these must be acceptable, first and foremost, to us,” said Dmitry Peskov, presidential spokesman, in statements to Russian public television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peskov stressed that “the Americans, President (Donald) Trump and his mediators, are sincere in their desire to formulate some kind of variant acceptable to all.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is not the preferred path, but in the absence of peaceful prospects, we will go all the way, to the final victory,” he added, alluding to what the Russian government calls a ‘special military operation’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peskov also asserted that Moscow cannot ignore that the U.S. continues to “pump weaponry into Ukraine,” which he described as “the dualism of the Trump Administration.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Contributing to a peaceful settlement”<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“We must take advantage of the part that aligns with our interests. And our wishes coincide completely with their willingness to contribute to a peaceful settlement,” he commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the commitments reached between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in August 2025 in Alaska, he assured that Moscow accepted the White House’s proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“But this was not accepted by the Ukrainians. And the Americans could not convince the Ukrainians, they could not twist the arm of the Ukrainians instigated by the Europeans,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio admitted that resolving the war in Ukraine required “new ideas” following the meeting held on Thursday in Manila with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, he stressed that Washington wishes to find a variant that is acceptable to both sides, after describing U.S. mediation as unproductive since Trump came to power in January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Lavrov clearly blamed Washington today for the failure of what was agreed upon in Anchorage, commitments that were never made public, but which the press summarized as the Russian willingness to cease fighting if Ukraine voluntarily abandoned the Donbas region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Regarding the failure of the Anchorage agreements, we probably need to understand exactly who failed,” Lavrov declared to the press in Kyrgyzstan, where he is attending a meeting of ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
