Santo Domingo.<\/strong> The National Association of Agricultural Professionals (ANPA) held a march this Friday<\/a> to the National Palace to demand improvements in the sector’s working conditions and warned that it will take its claims to international organizations, considering that agricultural technicians face a situation of abandonment and violation of their rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the demonstration, union leaders reported that they are preparing formal complaints to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), with the purpose of ensuring that both entities are aware of the conditions under which, as they claim, professionals in the field perform their duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization maintained that there is a contradiction between the international recognition the country has received for its progress in food security and the reality that, it asserts, agricultural workers are experiencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the ANPA, numerous professionals continue to receive insufficient remuneration, face pensions they consider inadequate, and report dismissals motivated by political reasons or their participation in union activities. Likewise, they pointed out that limited employment opportunities persist for specialists trained in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The guild representatives stated that the stability and dignity of agricultural professionals are fundamental elements to strengthen national production and guarantee the country’s food security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ANPA called on the Government to open a space for dialogue to address their demands and seek solutions to the problems affecting the sector, while reiterating that it will continue to carry out protest actions until concrete responses to their claims are obtained.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
