The National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP) reported that it is monitoring the new tariff measures adopted by the United States Government, which are part of a broad-reaching decision that includes more than 60 economies, among them the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“These provisions entered into force following the expiration of the temporary tariff scheme that was in effect until yesterday and establish a new tariff framework,” the business association explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
they indicated that at this moment it is essential to accurately evaluate the scope of the provisions adopted, including the exceptions, exclusions, and the specific treatment applicable to the different products, in order to determine with certainty their implications for the Dominican Republic. They said that within that evaluation it will be equally important to determine the effect that the new scheme may have on the access conditions of Dominican exports to the US market and their competitive position against other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In that sense, CONEP maintains close communication and collaboration with the Dominican authorities, through the exchange of information and technical analyses that contribute to an adequate evaluation of the measure. We trust in the actions and efforts being carried out by the Government, with the accompaniment of the private sector, to foster a constructive dialogue with the U.S. authorities and seek the best outcome for the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They highlighted that the United States is the Dominican Republic’s main trading partner and a strategic ally for investment, exports, and job creation. The solid bilateral relationship, built over decades on the basis of cooperation and mutual benefit, constitutes an asset that we trust will continue to strengthen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CONEP reiterates the private sector’s commitment to compliance with national legislation and internationally recognized labor standards, as well as to the continuous strengthening of best practices that promote responsible trade and reliable supply chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We will continue to monitor the implementation of these provisions and collaborate with the competent authorities to evaluate their scope and identify actions that contribute to safeguarding the competitiveness of the Dominican Republic and strengthening its commercial relationship with the United States.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
