Ver\u00f3n, La Altagracia.<\/strong> \u2013 The creation of \u201cFriusa Center\u201d<\/strong> adds to the commercial growth registered<\/a> in the Friusa community, in Ver\u00f3n-Punta Cana, an area where residents and journalists have drawn attention to the proliferation of businesses with signs in Haitian Creole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Critical sectors of the community claim that in several streets of Friusa, commercial establishments identified with messages in Creole predominate, while the Spanish language has a lesser presence in some public spaces, a situation that has generated questions about cultural integration and migration control in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Communicator Mois\u00e9s Ruiz<\/strong> recently stated that Friusa has become a \u201clittle Haiti\u201d within the Dominican Republic and warned President Luis Abinader that, in his view, the Dominican State does not maintain effective control of the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is not true that the Dominican Republic has control over Friusa; Haitians dominate and control it there<\/strong>\u201d, stated Ruiz, statements that have generated reactions among those who follow the migration issue in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dominican authorities have carried out immigration operations in the community. In April 2025, an operation resulted in the detention of 111 Haitian citizens with irregular immigration status, according to official reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friusa’s growth has been linked by various sectors to the demand for foreign labor in areas such as tourism and construction, especially due to the development of the Punta Cana tourist hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
