Washington.-<\/strong> The President of the United States, Donald Trump<\/a>, joked again this Friday during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner about the possibility of running in the 2028 presidential election and put on a red cap with the year 2028 on the front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I want to announce my intention to run for a fourth term as president. I won three times and I will do it again,” said Trump before putting on one of the signature caps from his election campaigns, this time with the number 2028, in a joke he has repeated at least twice this week during public appearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a> sarcastically alludes to a possible fourth term, as he has never acknowledged his defeat to Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 election and has repeatedly alleged supposed electoral fraud for which there is no evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The joke was the culmination of a speech lasting more than 70 minutes delivered by the Republican during the repeat of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, held this time at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Washington, which in the past belonged to the Trump family, instead of the Washington Hilton, the traditional venue for the gala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendance at the event, repeated tonight after the attack on April 26, also dropped considerably, from about 2,600 guests to approximately 700, while the Secret Service reinforced the security detail and limited access to the venue, where all attendees had to present a QR code to enter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump, 80, cannot run in the 2028 election, as the United States Constitution limits presidential terms to two and the Republican is in his second term, having served between 2017 and 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
