Santo Domingo.-<\/strong> As part of the plan to strengthen the Public Prosecutor’s offices promoted by the Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso,<\/a> to make the services offered to the public more efficient, the Comprehensive Justice Access Care Center of Bahoruco was inaugurated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The center, which includes the Unit for Attention to Victims of Gender-Based, Domestic, and Sexual Violence, as well as the offices of the National Service for Legal Representation of Victims’ Rights (Relevic), is located at 18 Eduardo Alonzo P\u00e9rez Jim\u00e9nez Street, in the Santa Cruz sector, in Neyba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of the National Directorate against Gender-Based Violence, prosecutor Ana Andrea Villa Camacho, highlighted the importance of the expansion and streamlining of the Public Ministry’s services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn behalf of the Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso, we thank you for being here today. Today we open, or reopen, the Gender-Based, Intrafamily Violence and Sexual Crimes Unit of Bahoruco, and we do so with an open heart to the residents of Neyba and the entire province, with the firmness of the law as our banner,\u201d expressed Villa Camacho, after defining violence against women as a great challenge for all of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNumbers cannot be cold; they allude to human stories that weigh heavily, that hurt, the lives of mothers, daughters, wives, and children. And this translates to the fact that, in the year 2025, the Public Prosecutor’s Office received around 73,000 complaints throughout the national territory,\u201d he recalled, while clarifying that this does not mean that 73,000 women were victims of abuse in the country, but rather that it corresponds to those who dared to report it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAccording to our statistical records, from January to May of this year, in the Gender Violence Unit of this municipality (Neyba), in Bahoruco, around 192 complaints linked to gender, domestic, and sexual violence were registered, of which the majority correspond to domestic violence,\u201d he indicated, while urging the population to report these cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery report that is not made out of fear and every life that is lost are facts that tear at the soul of the entire society. Statistics tell us that violence is there, beating in the shadows of many homes. But we are here to say: enough is enough,\u201d he\/she expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe child who grows up watching their mother being hit and humiliated naturally assumes that the home, which should be a space of love, is a scene of violence. And the girl, above all, who grows up in that same environment, runs the risk of normalizing abuse in her adult life,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blessing of the event was led by priest Blas Castro S\u00e1nchez, from the San Bartolom\u00e9 de Neyba parish, who valued the importance of seeking a solution to a problem that, he said, affects not only the country, but the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe place in your hands this day of care for victims of gender-based, domestic, and sexual violence,\u201d the religious leader expressed during the invocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prosecutor Villa Camacho highlighted that the unit has a multidisciplinary team made up of public prosecutors, forensic psychologists, forensic doctors, social workers, and lawyers, in addition to offering free legal assistance through Relevic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he indicated that they have the support of the Specialized Directorate for Attention to Women and Domestic Violence (Deamvi) for accompaniment in protection measures and the execution of arrest warrants against aggressors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the event, the chief prosecutor of Bahoruco, Esteban Cuevas, valued the inauguration of the unit, renovated and equipped to strengthen the protection of victims and expand the service offered by Relevic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery time an action aimed at dignifying and guaranteeing timely attention to the citizenry materializes, the rule of law in our country is strengthened and the population’s trust in the institutions dedicated to service is consolidated,\u201d he highlighted, while reaffirming the commitment to provide timely assistance, protection, and defense to women and all victims of violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her part, Mar\u00eda Rosalba D\u00edaz, head of the National Service for the Legal Representation of Victims (Relevic), explained the services offered by the Public Ministry through that entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted the initiative of the Attorney General and the Superior Council of the Public Ministry to expand the coverage of Relevic to the entire national territory to offer free legal assistance to victims in vulnerable conditions who do not have the financial resources to hire a lawyer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
