Santo Domingo.\u2013<\/strong> The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet)<\/a> reported that this Monday, a mostly clear environment will prevail during the morning hours, while in the afternoon, some scattered showers with possible thunderstorms will occur in several provinces due to the influence of a trough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agency explained that, although a tropical wave will be moving south of the national territory, its greatest cloud activity will remain over the Caribbean Sea, so it will have little influence on the country’s meteorological conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it indicated that the combination of the trough with the wind and local effects, such as daytime heating and orography, will favor the development of cloudiness accompanied by scattered showers or downpours and possible thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rainfall will be concentrated mainly in the provinces of Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, La Vega, Monse\u00f1or Nouel, Dajab\u00f3n, San Juan, El\u00edas Pi\u00f1a, and Pedernales, although it is not ruled out in other nearby locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given the high temperatures that will continue to be recorded, Indomet urged the population to wear light-colored, lightweight clothing, stay well hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he recommended staying in cool and ventilated places, while reminding that children, older adults, and pregnant women are the most vulnerable groups to the intense heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
