Celso Amorim, Brazil’s former foreign minister and special adviser for international affairs to President Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva, told CNN Brasil that the situation is “the biggest [crisis] since redemocratization,” an assessment reportedly shared by the presidential office and the Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira met Monday in Bras\u00edlia with Ambassador Julio Bitelli to assess what officials described as a “very serious” situation. According to CNN Brasil, authorities have decided to keep Bitelli in Brazil while awaiting further actions from the Argentine government before considering additional diplomatic measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The current tensions have intensified following recent remarks by Argentine President Javier Milei, who sharply criticized Lula’s administration and directed insults at the Brazilian president and members of the country’s judiciary during an event in S\u00e3o Paulo.
