President Donald Trump said he was considering remaining in office beyond his current term, telling attendees at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, “I’m a little upset because, in two and a half years, you could have a different president. You could.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During a lengthy speech at the rescheduled event, Trump also said he intended to pursue what he described as a “fourth term” and again repeated false claims that past U.S. elections were affected by widespread fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the U.S. Constitution, the 22nd Amendment limits presidents to two elected terms, making another presidential run after a second term constitutionally prohibited unless that amendment were changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The White House Correspondents’ Association dinner was held three months after its original date was postponed following a shooting at a security checkpoint outside the venue.
