Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2013 The Ministry of Public Health<\/a> reported that Emanuel Hern\u00e1ndez, identified as a barber, had allegedly performed at least two previous surgical procedures at the same center where 27-year-old Rebeca Brizard died during an aesthetic intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The information was revealed by the director of Licensing and Accreditation of the Ministry of Public Health, Juan Gerardo Mesa, who explained that the director and owner of the establishment, Dr. Griselda Basora, informed health authorities that Hern\u00e1ndez had already participated in other procedures at that location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYesterday, the doctor stated that Mr. Hern\u00e1ndez had undergone a couple of procedures prior to this one at the center,\u201d Mesa indicated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The official noted that, after learning of that version, the authorities questioned under what conditions Hern\u00e1ndez had performed surgical interventions and why the center did not verify his credentials before allowing his participation in medical procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mesa explained that the establishment should have required documents such as the university degree, exequatur, professional membership, and specialty certification required by regulations to practice medicine and perform surgeries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Director of Authorization and Accreditation, the response received was that Hern\u00e1ndez was supposedly going to bring that documentation to the center, but he never presented it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official stated that the potential responsibility for what occurred would not fall solely on Hern\u00e1ndez, but also on those who allowed his participation in the surgery and were part of the procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cJustice will have to decide what the consequences are for a violation of that nature, because in this case the person who performed the operation is not a doctor, does not have a medical degree, and is certainly not a plastic surgeon,\u201d stated Mesa.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he indicated that others involved could have some degree of responsibility, although he clarified that it will be the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the courts that determine the corresponding legal implications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mesa also questioned the conditions of the Doctora Griselda Basora Obesity and Anti-Aging Clinic, located in Santo Domingo Oeste, a center that was closed following Brizard’s death and which, according to Public Health, was operating without the required authorization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official maintained that the visible conditions of the establishment raised doubts regarding compliance with the necessary requirements to offer services of that nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A team from the Licensing Directorate conducted an inspection at the center to prepare a technical report on the facility’s areas, equipment, and operating conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
