Santo Domingo.-<\/strong> The president of the Constitutional Court, Napole\u00f3n R. Est\u00e9vez Lavandier, affirmed<\/a> that in the Dominican Republic, the necessary legal and institutional foundations exist to trust the justice system, in response to the questions that have arisen in various sectors regarding the functioning of the Judiciary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The magistrate maintained that the Dominican judicial system, composed of the Judiciary, the Constitutional Court, and the Superior Electoral Court, has competencies defined by the Constitution and the laws, in addition to internal mechanisms aimed at guaranteeing the integrity of the judges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI believe there is confidence in both the Judiciary and constitutional justice, as well as electoral justice,\u201d stated Est\u00e9vez Lavandier when questioned about public perception regarding the administration of justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president of the Constitutional Court assured that the country has a legal framework that allows for strengthening institutionalism and generating trust in the bodies responsible for administering justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI believe that we in the Dominican Republic have legal and constitutional frameworks that allow us to have that confidence in the judicial system,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he explained that the integrity of judges is a permanent process that requires constant monitoring within the institutions responsible for administering justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRegarding the integrity of the judges, both the Constitutional Court and the Judiciary have the corresponding internal bodies so that such integrity can be achieved. Logically, it is a day-to-day task of the system,\u201d he indicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
