SANTO DOMINGO.<\/strong> The Dominican Republic continued to expand its medal haul at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026<\/strong>, by winning a total of nine medals<\/strong> this Wednesday, distributed into three silver and six bronze<\/strong>, to raise its production in the regional event to 57<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With these results, the national delegation accumulates 10 gold, 12 silver, and 35 bronze medals<\/strong>, figures that allow it to remain in fifth place in the overall medal table<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The silver medals came through rowing<\/strong>, trap shooting<\/strong>, and swimming<\/strong>, while the bronzes were contributed by racquetball<\/strong>, trap shooting<\/strong>, and swimming<\/strong>. In addition, the men’s and women’s beach volleyball<\/strong> teams secured their qualification for the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team silver and individual bronze in clay pigeon shooting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Trap shooting opened the day with a silver medal in the team trap<\/strong> event, thanks to the performance of Domingo Lorenzo, Eduardo Lorenzo, and Henry Tejeda<\/strong>, who hit 303 targets<\/strong> to finish in second place. Guatemala won the gold with a Central American record of 320 targets<\/strong>, while Venezuela took the bronze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later on, Eduardo Lorenzo<\/strong> returned to the podium after taking the bronze medal<\/strong> in the individual trap competition, after breaking 19 out of 25 targets<\/strong> in the final round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ignacio V\u00e1squez and Wendy Sim\u00f3 add another silver for rowing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rowing contributed once again to the Dominican medal count with the performance of Ignacio V\u00e1squez and Wendy Sim\u00f3<\/strong>, who won the silver medal<\/strong> in the mixed double sculls<\/strong>, recording a time of 7:07.14<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was dominated by the Mexican pair composed of Kenia Lechuga and Alexis L\u00f3pez<\/strong>, while Venezuela completed the podium with the bronze medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Racquetball brings home four bronze medals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Racquetball had an outstanding day by adding four bronze medals<\/strong> for the Dominican delegation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In men’s singles, Ram\u00f3n de Le\u00f3n<\/strong> reached third place after falling in the semifinals to the Mexican Eduardo Portillo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the women’s division, Mar\u00eda C\u00e9spedes<\/strong> won the bronze after losing to the Mexican Alexandra Herrera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other two medals came in the doubles categories, with the pairs Luis P\u00e9rez and Junior Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, in men’s, and Alejandra Jim\u00e9nez and Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas C\u00e9spedes<\/strong>, in women’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beach volleyball advances to the quarterfinals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Dominican beach volleyball pairs advanced to the quarterfinal round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the women’s category, Crismil Paniagua and Julibeth Payano<\/strong> finished the group stage undefeated with a 4-0<\/strong> record, after defeating the Virgin Islands in straight sets and securing first place in Group A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the men’s category, Hayerling de Jes\u00fas and \u00d3scar Mart\u00ednez<\/strong> qualified with a 3-1<\/strong> record and will compete this Thursday for their spot in the semifinals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Javier N\u00fa\u00f1ez and Josu\u00e9 Dom\u00ednguez shine in the pool<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Swimming also contributed two medals to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Javier N\u00fa\u00f1ez<\/strong> won the silver medal<\/strong> in the 100-meter freestyle<\/strong>, stopping the clock at 49.43 seconds<\/strong>, thus securing his second medal of the Games following the bronze obtained in the 50-meter freestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Josu\u00e9 Dom\u00ednguez<\/strong> took home the bronze medal<\/strong> in the 50-meter breaststroke<\/strong>, with a time of 27.93 seconds<\/strong>, to complete a positive day for Dominican swimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this collective performance, the Dominican Republic continues to consolidate itself among the top delegations of the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, maintaining an upward pace in the fight for the regional medal table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
