Hig\u00fcey<\/strong>.- The Minister of Culture, Roberto \u00c1ngel Salcedo, presented this Wednesday the details of Este Festival, an event that will bring together, from August 28 to 30, the main artistic, heritage, and traditional expressions of the six provinces that make up the eastern region of the country, as part of the decentralization policy promoted by the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement of the event, dedicated to the prominent artisan Genaro Reyes \u201cCayuco\u201d, was made during a press conference at the Hig\u00fcey campus of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official explained that the initiative seeks to consolidate itself as a meeting space to make the cultural richness of the Dominican East visible and strengthen its regional identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salcedo highlighted that this project continues the Ministry of Culture’s strategy of bringing high-level artistic and cultural programming to the different regions of the national territory, promoting community participation and the recognition of their cultural expressions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWithin the festival’s programmatic agenda, and in collaboration with the senators of this prolific region, there will be an event to recognize prominent figures of the culture of the six provinces,\u201d the minister revealed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, the vice ministers of Cultural Identity and Citizenship, Pastor de Moya, and of Creativity and Artistic Training, Amaury S\u00e1nchez, attended, among other national authorities and those from the different districts of the Eastern region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival will feature the participation of the provinces of Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, Hato Mayor, La Romana, El Seibo, and La Altagracia, which will present some of their most representative cultural expressions, turning the gathering into a broad showcase of regional diversity and heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the three days, the Hig\u00fcey campus of the UASD will host presentations of folk music, traditional dances, theater, visual arts, oral literature, gastronomy, and crafts, in addition to other expressions of popular art that are part of the cultural legacy of the communities of the East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programming will also include thematic spaces aimed at audiences of all ages. Among them are a children’s area, with recreational activities, artistic workshops, and storytelling; a youth area, oriented toward contemporary cultural expressions and creative exchange; a National Publisher stand, with publications by Dominican authors, and an exhibition dedicated to the carnival identities of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, artistic galas will be held by the participating provinces, along with a local craft exhibition and a space for reflection on the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, with the aim of promoting and valuing the traditions that are part of the identity of the Dominican East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister highlighted that the festival has been conceived as a stage for exchange between the participating provinces, aimed at strengthening the ties between their communities and projecting the artistic, historical, and heritage wealth of the region at the national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With <\/a>this initiative, the Ministry of Culture continues to expand its regional festival program, following the celebration of the Enriquillo Region Cultural Festival, held in Barahona, as part of a strategy aimed at decentralizing cultural offerings and bringing artistic, cultural, and literary activities closer to the different regions of the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
