Santo Domingo.\u2013<\/strong> The executive presidents of Banreservas and Banco Popular Dominicano,<\/a> Leonardo Aguilera and Christopher Paniagua, held a meeting to analyze the current situation and outlook of the Dominican financial system, in a space for dialogue that reaffirms the institutional relationship between both entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the discussion, held at the Banreservas headquarters, the executives addressed topics related to the strengthening, current situation, and outlook of the financial system, as well as its contribution to the economic development of the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, they expressed their interest in continuing to support the various productive sectors and the foreign investment projects planned to be developed in the country, in a context that, as they indicated, reflects the stability of the national financial system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the main entities of the financial system, both agreed that support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) constitutes a key element for job creation and economic growth in the Dominican Republic. In that sense, they pointed out that their credit portfolios directed at this segment reflect the commitment of both institutions to their development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another coincidence between both entities was their vision of supporting entrepreneurs, whose contribution aids in the diversification of the economy, the strengthening of the productive fabric, and the creation of new opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also discussed the performance of the tourism sector and its impact on the Dominican economy, as well as the role that national financial entities have played through the financing of projects that drive the growth of that activity and its value chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting also constitutes a sign of coordination between the country’s main financial entities, which contributes to strengthening the confidence of international investors interested in developing projects in the Dominican Republic, supported by the investment climate and legal security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About both institutions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Banco de Reservas<\/strong> is the main state-owned banking entity in the Dominican Republic by asset volume. It was founded in 1941 with the purpose of strengthening national banking and, since then, it has supported the country’s various productive sectors through the financing of economic activities and development projects. It is currently chaired by Leonardo Aguilera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Banco Popular Dominicano<\/strong> leads the private banking system of the Dominican Republic by asset volume. It opened its doors to the public on January 2, 1964, and since then, it has developed a trajectory focused on the democratization of financial services, digital transformation, and the financing of individuals, companies, and projects that contribute to the country’s economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
