Lima.-<\/strong> The president of Peru, Keiko Fujimori,<\/a> assured this Thursday that she will not cut any labor rights, after it became known that her Government plans to request legislative powers from Congress, with plans to make dismissal and labor benefits more flexible, according to drafts published by local media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There will be no cuts or reduction of holidays (…) No labor rights will be cut, that is what I want to point out, I have said it in my message and I point it out again clearly today,” Fujimori told local media during a visit to the grave of her father, former president Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The press also asked him about the criticisms that have arisen against the ministers who make up the cabinet<\/a>, as some of them have open legal proceedings or lack experience in the sector in which they have been appointed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defense of his cabinet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In that sense, he explained that the people who make up the cabinet are professionals with “an excellent resume,” great experience in their sector, political experience, and indicated that they have prioritized “their ability to solve citizens’ problems.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that criticism when a ministerial cabinet is announced “is natural,” but she assured that each of the ministers will demonstrate how competent they are, noted that it will be a “government on the field (in the streets),” and announced that both she and the rest of the Executive branch will travel throughout the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The daughter and political heir of former president Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000) gave brief statements at the Campo Fe cemetery, where she went to visit her father’s grave alongside former Ecuadorian president Jamil Mahuad (1998-2000), who was among the presidents who attended the right-wing leader’s inauguration this Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
