The trade has not yet been made official by the teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peralta arrived at the Mets in January with the expectation of becoming the leader of the rotation, backed by a track record that includes two All-Star Game selections and a 3.59 ERA in eight seasons in the Major Leagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the Dominican right-hander had difficulty finding consistency during his time in New York. Between May 23 and July 20, he recorded a 6.67 ERA in 11 starts, a performance that affected both the team&#8217;s performance and his value in the trade market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite an inconsistent season, Peralta retains a six-pitch repertoire led by a high-velocity fastball, tools that the Rays hope to enhance to strengthen a rotation with aspirations of competing in the final stretch of the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With his arrival in Tampa Bay, the Dominican pitcher will seek to regain the level that made him one of the most consistent starters in the National League and provide depth to a team that continues to reinforce itself ahead of the postseason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
