{"id":519542,"date":"2026-08-04T15:45:03","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T19:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/july-boosts-dominican-tourism-to-another-record-with-more-than-7-7-million-visitors\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T15:45:03","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T19:45:03","slug":"july-boosts-dominican-tourism-to-another-record-with-more-than-7-7-million-visitors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/en\/dominican-news\/july-boosts-dominican-tourism-to-another-record-with-more-than-7-7-million-visitors\/","title":{"rendered":"July boosts Dominican tourism to another record with more than 7.7 million visitors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, reported that the country received 7,700,118 visitors between January and July 2026, the highest figure recorded for that period, driven by the sustained growth of air and cruise tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2013 The Dominican Republic continues to consolidate itself as one of the main tourist destinations in the Caribbean by registering the arrival of <strong>7,700,118 visitors<\/strong> between January and July 2026, the highest figure reached for that period in the country&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his traditional monthly results presentation, the Minister of Tourism, <strong>David Collado<\/strong>, reported that this figure represents a growth of <strong>7%<\/strong> compared to the same period in 2025, <strong>10.4%<\/strong> compared to 2024, and <strong>69.6%<\/strong> compared to 2019, before the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of the total number of visitors, <strong>5,885,259<\/strong> entered the country by air and <strong>1,814,859<\/strong> did so via cruise ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Those two arrivals give us the grand total of 7,700,118 visitors in just seven months, the highest figure reached in that period in the history of Dominican tourism,&#8221; expressed Collado during an event held at the Hotel Embajador, in Santo Domingo, before representatives of the tourism sector.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/HO5sdhPXIAAmURk-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-695841\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.499286017521516;width:443px;height:auto\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minister highlighted that <strong>July<\/strong> also set a new record by receiving <strong>1,083,448 visitors<\/strong>, an increase of <strong>2.9%<\/strong> compared to the same month in 2025, <strong>6.4%<\/strong> compared to 2024, and <strong>60.6%<\/strong> compared to 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of that total, <strong>921,718 tourists<\/strong> arrived by air, which represents an increase of <strong>6.7%<\/strong> compared to July 2025, while <strong>161,730 passengers<\/strong> arrived on cruise ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Main source markets<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The United States remained the main source market for tourists during July, contributing <strong>48%<\/strong> of arrivals. It was followed by <strong>Canada (7%)<\/strong>; <strong>Argentina and Colombia (6% each)<\/strong>; <strong>Puerto Rico (5%)<\/strong>; <strong>Mexico and the United Kingdom (3%)<\/strong>, and <strong>Spain (2%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Busiest airports<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Punta Cana<\/strong> International Airport accounted for <strong>58%<\/strong> of air arrivals, followed by <strong>Las Am\u00e9ricas (24%)<\/strong>, <strong>Cibao (13%)<\/strong>, <strong>Puerto Plata (3%)<\/strong>, while <strong>La Romana and Saman\u00e1<\/strong> recorded <strong>1%<\/strong> each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding the origin of the flights, <strong>the United States<\/strong> topped the list with <strong>50%<\/strong>, followed by <strong>Panama (7%)<\/strong>; <strong>Colombia and Puerto Rico (6% each)<\/strong>; <strong>Canada (5%)<\/strong>; <strong>Peru and Spain (3%)<\/strong>, and <strong>Argentina, Mexico, and Cuba (2%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collado also reported that hotel occupancy during July reached <strong>76%<\/strong>, while visitor satisfaction stood at <strong>4.4 points out of 5<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the measurements presented by the Ministry of Tourism, <strong>91% of tourists stated that they would return to visit the Dominican Republic<\/strong>, while <strong>59% assured that they would recommend the destination<\/strong> to family and friends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, reported that the country received 7,700,118 visitors between January and July 2026, the highest figure recorded for that period, driven by the sustained growth of air and cruise tourism.
