Santo Domingo.\u2014<\/strong> The president of the Dominican Academy of Art and Entertainment (ADOPAE), Fausto Polanco, announced that he is preparing a project together with artistic entrepreneur Sim\u00f3n D\u00edaz that, as he anticipated, seeks to become an initiative of national impact and reach the status of a \u201ccountry brand\u201d in a short time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polanco revealed that the proposal will be officially presented at a press conference to be held in the coming weeks, in which, together with D\u00edaz, they will offer details of the initiative, its scope, and the date on which it will be executed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt will be a project that I assure you will soon become a country brand,\u201d affirmed Polanco, defining this initiative as one of the great challenges of his administration at the head of ADOPAE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although he avoided disclosing the details of the project, the president of the academy assured that it is a far-reaching initiative with which he intends to position ADOPAE and generate an impact that transcends the artistic and cultural sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While preparing this announcement, Polanco also presented part of the agenda of projects that will be developed during his administration, among them the Merengue Week, an initiative that will be carried out together with the Dominican Association of Broadcasters (ADORA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programming will include workshops with composers, producers, and artists of the genre, who will have spaces to share their experiences, talk about their beginnings, and address the main challenges they have faced in their respective careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA workshop with the composers, a workshop with the merengue producers, bringing them all or most of them together so they can be with us that day. A workshop with the merengue artists, so that they can all tell us about their beginnings, the challenges, and things of that nature,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day will reach its climax on November 26th, National Merengue Day, when ADOPAE and ADORA will strive to ensure that the Dominican rhythm has a special presence on as many radio stations in the country as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polanco reported that more than 50 artists have already recorded a promotional spot that will be broadcast throughout that day on stations affiliated with ADORA, as part of a campaign to encourage listening to merengue and turn the date into a national celebration of the genre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMay that day be for merengue,\u201d expressed the president of ADOPAE when explaining the purpose of the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Training and national expansion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another of the projects announced is a journalism congress that will be under the coordination of journalists Jos\u00e9 Antonio Aybar, Alfonso Qui\u00f1ones, and Jos\u00e9 Tejada G\u00f3mez, as part of the new board’s commitment to strengthening the training of professionals linked to art and entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polanco also invited journalists of different generations to join ADOPAE and assured that the institution seeks to expand its presence beyond Santo Domingo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have our doors open for all of you,\u201d he stated, while urging those interested in being part of the academy to submit their applications for evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new president of ADOPAE maintained that one of his main objectives is to ensure that the institution has a presence throughout the national territory and that its initiatives are known by the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are going to work so that it is in plain sight of the Dominican people; so that it is known in the countryside, so that it is known in the provinces, so that it is known in the municipalities,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
