The U.S. government announced Wednesday that it is offering more than $100 million in rewards for information leading to the arrest and\/or conviction of senior leaders of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of Mexico’s most powerful criminal organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the U.S. Department of Justice, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the CJNG, which the Trump administration has designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization, is a “narco-terrorist” group that must be dismantled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the announcements, U.S. authorities increased the reward for Juan Carlos Valencia Gonz\u00e1lez, also known as “Pel\u00f3n,” to $25 million. He has been identified as the cartel’s new leader following the reported death of Nemesio Rub\u00e9n Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rewards are part of a broader effort by U.S. authorities, in coordination with the FBI, DEA and other federal agencies, to target the leadership and operations of the CJNG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
