Washington.- <\/strong>The White House announced this Wednesday that the acting U.S. Attorney General, Todd Blanche, will lead the delegation that will represent the president, Donald Trump, at the inauguration<\/a> of the new Colombian president, Abelardo de la Espriella, this August 7 in Cali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation is also made up of representatives from the Department of State, the Department of Defense, the Department of Justice, and the anti-drug agency DEA, in a symbol of the areas of cooperation that Washington wants to address with the new Colombian government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, neither Secretary of State Marco Rubio nor his ‘number two,’ Christopher Landau, who recently participated in the inauguration of Keiko Fujimori as the new Peruvian president, will attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list is completed by the Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Bogot\u00e1, Hugo Guevara, and Republican Congressman Mario D\u00edaz-Balart, chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Sara Carter; the Director of the DEA, Terrance Cole; the Vice President’s National Security Advisor, Cliff Sims; the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Latin America at the Department of State, Viviana Bovo; the Department of State’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Joseph Humire; and the Chief of International Operations for the Department of Justice, Kristopher Jarvis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blanche, who was previously one of Trump’s personal lawyers in several of his criminal cases, is currently serving as acting deputy attorney general while the Senate stalls the process to permanently confirm his appointment to lead the Department of Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His nomination has faced objections from the opposition, as well as from at least three Republicans, and has not yet been put to a final vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De la Espriella will take office next Friday, August 7, at the USC Arena of the Santiago de Cali University, in a ceremony for which King Felipe VI of Spain, eight Latin American presidents, or representatives of the Kingdom of the Netherlands have already confirmed their attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ultra-conservative will take office for the 2026-2030 term, after prevailing in the June 21 runoff election against leftist candidate Iv\u00e1n Cepeda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
