Santo Domingo.<\/strong> \u2013 Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino has made it clear throughout her career that her faith in God is one of the pillars of her personal and athletic life. From her first international competitions to the most important stages of world athletics, the Dominican sprinter has attributed her achievements to her trust in God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the moments that marked that conviction has gone viral again, which occurred after winning the silver medal in the 400-meter dash at the 2024 Olympic Games, just a year after beginning her training in that discipline. Upon concluding the competition, Paulino was seen holding a Bible while speaking to the press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about the reason for carrying the Holy Scriptures, she replied firmly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Because I have faith in God, who gave me the opportunity to run for this medal.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The athlete also took the opportunity to send a message to the Dominican people, to whom she dedicated her achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I dedicate the medal to Him and may they continue to believe in God, because He is the owner of everything and He is our hope.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Paulino revealed that she arrived at the competition with the certainty that everything would happen according to God’s purpose and that, regardless of the result, she would remain grateful. “Yes, because God was with me at all times<\/strong>,” she indicated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the thoughts that were going through his mind before the race, he assured that he only made one request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“God brought me here for this, for a motive and a reason. The only thought that crossed my mind was that it be God’s will. Whatever happens, I would always be grateful to Him,” highlighted the athlete baptized as the Gazelle of Nizao.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Paulino also commented that, at that time, she had barely been competing in the 400-meter dash for a year, so she still considered herself a new athlete in the specialty and did not maintain a close relationship with several of her international rivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With emotion, the Dominican champion dedicated that historic performance to her mother, Anatalia Paulino, who followed every step of her career with attention. “This race was for her.
