Mexico City.-<\/strong> The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) ruled out changing<\/a> the assigned locations for the in-person undergraduate admission control exam, ordered after possible cheating with artificial intelligence (AI) and other irregularities were detected in the first online test, despite complaints from applicants who will have to travel to cities far from their places of residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the recommendations attached to the individual exam appointments, disseminated this Sunday by applicants on social media, the institution indicated that the assignment was carried out using “regionalization criteria,” with the objective of reducing, as much as possible, travel times and costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“For this reason, it will not be possible to change the venue,” the document notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The assignment of the venues<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The UNAM enabled four locations for the administration, between August 12 and 19, of the in-person evaluation: Mexico City, Le\u00f3n, Oaxaca, and Tijuana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, the institution acknowledged that the process may involve relocation from the place of residence and recommended that those who must travel long distances organize transportation, lodging, and meals in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last Friday, the UNAM enabled the consultation of appointments for the nearly 59,000 applicants summoned to the in-person evaluation, after a review of the process detected statistically atypical results and possible irregularities in the virtual exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, the institution reported in a statement that 43,619 applicants, equivalent to 74.3% of the 58,783 summoned, had already obtained their appointment with date, location, and time as of this Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, several applicants denounced on social media assignments that would force them to travel to states far from their residences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the reported cases are young people residing in Nuevo Le\u00f3n and Tamaulipas (northeast) sent to Tijuana (Baja California, northwest), as well as applicants from Michoac\u00e1n (west), State of Mexico (center), and Yucat\u00e1n (southeast), summoned in Oaxaca (southwest) or Mexico City (center).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Is anyone else going to Tijuana and is from Tamaulipas or another state? Are you going? I won’t be able to, it’s too much of an expense and then having to travel to CDMX (Mexico City) for the registration and the start of the cycle,” notes a post in the Facebook group Examen UNAM 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The irregularities of the first exam<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So far, the University has not released an official statement regarding this matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNAM administered the original exam between May 23 and June 10 using a platform that verified the participants’ identity, monitored their environment, and generated alerts for potential irregular behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the publication of the results on July 17, questions arose regarding the increase in high scores, technical failures, and the possible use of AI or other forms of external assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The institution then ordered a review of the process and integrated a commission of specialists, who recommended verifying the results through an in-person exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not all participants will have to repeat the test. The university summoned those who initially received a selection notice and those who obtained a result equal to or higher than the lowest admission score recorded for the same degree, campus, location, and modality between 2021 and 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
