President Keiko Fujimori announced this Sunday that her government will begin to implement a policy of \u201cgreat firmness\u201d to restore order and took the Salvadoran leader, Nayib Bukele<\/strong>, as a reference during a live broadcast on her social media platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president took advantage of the event to ratify her support for the police officers who participated in recent operations against crime, including two hitmen, among them the case of a money changer in the Center of Lima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>\u201cI wanted to give this message of support to the National Police, to these officers who risk their lives to save ours, that of the citizens, and to give a very clear message: our Government is going to support them, is going to accompany them, they are not alone,\u201d he maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keiko Fujimori answered some questions from the public in a live broadcast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fujimori indicated that these operations are part of a broader strategy that will include intelligence work and assured that the Executive branch will continue to recognize the agents’ work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>He also stated that the corresponding arrangements have already been made to begin improving the conditions of the police stations and expressed his expectation that the work will begin \u201cin the coming weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the beginning of July, Bukele sent him a congratulatory letter in which he conveyed his best wishes for the new administration and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn behalf of the people and Government of the Republic of El Salvador, my wife Gabriela, and myself, I am pleased to convey my sincerest congratulations on the occasion of your election as president,\u201d the letter read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Salvadoran leader maintained that his victory at the polls \u201cconstitutes an eloquent expression of the confidence that the Peruvian people have placed in his leadership to guide the destinies of that sister nation toward greater levels of prosperity, stability, and well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also reiterated the firm will of El Salvador<\/strong> to continue strengthening \u201cthe deep ties\u201d of friendship, cooperation, and understanding that have traditionally united their peoples, for the mutual benefit of both nations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI take this opportunity to express my best wishes for the success of your administration and for the permanent strengthening of the progress and prosperity of the Republic of Peru,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bukele congratulated Fujimori on her election and expressed his willingness to strengthen ties between Peru and El Salvador<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the campaign, the daughter and political heir of the late autocrat Alberto Fujimori pointed out that, among her proposals to combat crime, she planned to regain control of the borders and prisons, as well as build a mega-prison for high-risk inmates inspired by the Terrorism Confinement Center<\/strong> (Cecot).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This symbol of Bukele’s \u201cwar\u201d against gangs has been in operation for more than three years, according to security authorities, and houses the \u201cmost dangerous\u201d members of the main criminal structures operating in the Central American country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cecot has the capacity to house 40,000 gang members, although the total number of inmates in the prison is currently unknown.
