AES Dominicana strengthened its financial structure with an international placement of US$500 million, resources that will allow for the refinancing of AES operations in the Dominican Republic and support its long-term growth strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The operation, which constitutes the largest corporate bond issuance carried out by a Dominican company since 2012, was placed at seven years with a rate of 7.75%, strengthening the group’s capital structure. This placement in international markets evidences investor confidence in the technical and operational solidity of AES’s assets in the Dominican Republic, which allowed the placement to be finalized in a highly competitive international environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The issuance received more than 115 orders from institutional investors in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, generating demand exceeding US$1.5 billion, equivalent to three times the issued amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This issuance reflects the confidence that international markets and investors maintain in AES Dominicana, in the economic momentum of the Dominican Republic, as a leading growth economy in Latin America, as well as in the institutional strengthening of the country to generate confidence for local and foreign investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“During the investor roadshow, the importance of the operation of AES Dominicana’s generation assets was highlighted to continue driving the economic development that we have supported in the country for nearly three decades, as well as the importance of the AES Andr\u00e9s natural gas import terminal, which provides solutions to multiple clients and has sufficient capacity to continue growing the generation matrix that the Dominican Republic demands,” stated Edwin De los Santos, president of AES Dominicana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For his part, Mart\u00edn Navarro, CFO of AES Dominicana, indicated that \u201ca key element of the issuance’s success was the significant support from local and regional investors, which reaffirms the trust that AES has built over more than two decades of financing operations in the Dominican Republic and internationally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AES Dominicana has more than two decades of experience in international capital markets and is among the first Dominican corporate issuers to consistently access these markets. Since 2005, the group has structured issuances totaling more than US$1 billion, including the international placement of US$370 million in 2016 and the US$300 million issuance in 2024, for which demand exceeded the offered amount by 4.3 times.
