At least 111 people died and 87 were injured due to the powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake<\/a> that shook Colombia this Monday, reported Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella in his first official assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report, at 12:30 local time, accounts for 1,575 damaged homes and 37 “completely destroyed.” In addition, some 61 collapsed buildings and 18 affected roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the deteriorated infrastructure, he also listed 52 educational centers, 18 health centers, and 17 community centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, there are six airports damaged and “out of operation for commercial flights.” And one airport with structural damage, including its landing strip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I will be giving this report personally every two or three hours, depending on how the situation progresses,” communicated De la Espriella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
