the senators wrote in their letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to expressing their concern &#8220;regarding the serious human rights violations in Venezuela,&#8221; they also request that the State Department commit to preventing further abuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-exigen-explicaciones\">Demanding explanations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The senators assert that the abuses, which occurred &#8220;during the term of former president Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, have not diminished despite the significant intervention and control that the United States government exercises over Venezuelan affairs, nor after the replacement of Maduro by interim president Delcy Rodr\u00edguez.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawmakers announce that Congress will continue to exercise its oversight and monitoring role regarding the &#8220;Administration&#8217;s initiatives to support the Rodr\u00edguez regime&#8221; and that if the State Department refuses to address human rights violations, they will consider &#8220;using all available mechanisms to demand such a report, including Section 502B of the Foreign Assistance Act.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend reading:<a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/internacionales\/marco-rubio-califica-a-la-corte-penal-internacional-como-una-organizacion-ilegitima\/\">Marco Rubio labels the International Criminal Court as an &#8220;illegitimate organization&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This regulation prohibits providing support to governments that maintain a &#8220;consistent pattern of gross violations&#8221;
