As part of the recognition, they traveled to the country to enjoy an agenda of activities that combines knowledge, culture, recreation, and an approach to Dominican institutional life.

The experience began on Sunday with a tour of the Colonial City, where the students had the opportunity to visit spaces dedicated to preserving the country’s historical and cultural memory, including the Kah Kow and Resistance museums. The itinerary allowed them to discover, beyond the books, part of the history of a nation that is also part of their own identity.

This Monday, the agenda continued at the National Congress, where they were received at the headquarters of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic, to learn firsthand about the functioning of democratic institutions. Later, the young people shared with the president of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL), Guido Gómez Mazara, during a visit to the institution’s cultural space in the Colonial City.

Starting this Tuesday, the program includes visits to the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs, as well as the Taíno Cultural Center Casa del Cordón, among other spaces of historical and cultural interest. They will also be received at the Palacio Consistorial by the Mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía, as part of an agenda designed to introduce them to different expressions of Dominican public life.

We recommend reading: MINERD trains more than 90,000 teachers before the school year

The tour also reserves space for recreation and enjoyment. Before returning to Spain next Saturday at night, the students will experience a special day in the municipality of Boca Chica, where they will be able to share in an atmosphere of coexistence and discover another of the facets that make the Dominican Republic a destination of encounter, joy, and hospitality.

The Dominican ambassador to Spain, Tony Raful, explained that this initiative seeks to transcend academic recognition to become an experience capable of strengthening the emotional and cultural ties of young people in the diaspora with their country of origin.

“This experience seeks to strengthen the ties of the Dominican diaspora with the country and bring our youth closer to its history, its heritage, and its institutional life,” the diplomat pointed out.

In this edition, the 2026 School Merit Award was presented to Claudia Michelle López Montero, Diego Agramonte Ramírez, Alicia Soriano Marte, Alicia Pineda Pineda, Marina Carrasco Delgado, Nashla Teresa Gerónimo González, Gabriel Iván Pérez Acosta, Antonella Feliz Balby, Camila Sophia Rodríguez Disla, and Chayra Bautista Sánchez, who come from different locations in Spain.

Likewise, the jury awarded special mentions to Karen Cristina Gerardo Nova and María del Carmen Rivera Vargas, in recognition of their outstanding academic performance and the values demonstrated throughout their educational trajectory.

The School Merit Award also constitutes recognition of the effort of the families and communities that support these young people in their education. The initiative reflects the importance of keeping alive the ties between the Dominican Republic and the new generations of Dominicans who grow up outside its borders, but who continue to carry with them a part of the identity, culture, and values of their country.

The program has the support and collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior and Police, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Women, Supreme Court of Justice, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, INDOTEL, National District City Hall, Senate of the Republic and Chamber of Deputies.

Santo Domingo. — With academic excellence as a starting point and the connection to their roots as a horizon, a group of students of Dominican nationality or origin, residing in different locations in Spain, is living an educational and cultural experience this week that brings them closer to the history, heritage, and institutions of the […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[1

post-520719","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-uncategorized
https://deultimominuto.com/en/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/08/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-10-at-7.31.28-PM.jpeg
Preciosa Jimenez
https://deultimominuto.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/cropped-WhatsApp-Image-2026-05-26-at-5.31.56-PM-96x96.jpeg
Uncategorized
https://cdn.deultimominuto.com/en/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/08/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-10-at-7.31.28-PM.jpeg
["GET
