LA ROMANA.-<\/strong> The Toros del Este announced this Tuesday the acquisition of the first baseman from La Romana Rainer N\u00fa\u00f1ez<\/strong>, who arrives from the Estrellas Orientales in exchange for the left-handed designated hitter Sandber Pimentel<\/strong>, in a move aimed at strengthening the taurine team’s native roster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00fa\u00f1ez, 25, was recognized as Rookie of the Year for the 2022-23 season<\/strong>, after batting .263, with seven home runs and 18 runs batted in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In four seasons in the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), the first baseman has accumulated nine home runs and 36 runs batted in<\/strong>, in addition to 74 hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe continue working on shaping the roster; he is a right-handed hitter who provides balance to the number of offensive options the manager will have early in the season,\u201d expressed Jes\u00fas Mej\u00eda<\/strong>, general manager of the Toros del Este.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The player from La Romana also shows good numbers at Estadio Francisco Micheli<\/strong>, where he records a .306 batting average and a .359 on-base percentage in 13 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the arrival of N\u00fa\u00f1ez, the Toros add another player acquired via trade during the offseason, joining infielder Enmanuel Valdez<\/strong> and left-handed pitcher Reymin Gudu\u00e1n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Pimentel returns to the organization that selected him in the 2015 draft. In his only season with the Toros, he batted .176\/.391\/.235, with no home runs and three RBIs in 26 games. In his LIDOM career, he has a .216 average, nine home runs, and 31 RBIs in 146 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
