Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2014 More than RD$75 million<\/strong> will be allocated by the Dominican Government for the payment of incentives to the athletes who won medals at the recently concluded XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026<\/strong>, in accordance with the scheme established by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, the incentives corresponding to individual medals, team sports, and federations amount to RD$75.5 million<\/strong>, an amount that will increase once the awards corresponding to the coaches are incorporated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the athletes who will receive the greatest benefits for their performances are Liranyi Alonso<\/strong>, in athletics, and Brenda Castillo<\/strong>, in volleyball, who had outstanding participations during the regional event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RD$53.7 million for individual medals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

According to the incentive scheme, individual medalists will receive RD$300,000 for each gold medal, RD$150,000 for silver, and RD$100,000 for bronze<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this line, a disbursement of RD$53.7 million<\/strong> is projected, while team sports will receive RD$18.4 million and national federations will obtain RD$15.4 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sum of these three lines represents RD$75.5 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incentives for athletes are cumulative when an athlete wins more than one medal, as clarified by the Ministry of Sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liranyi Alonso, among the most awarded<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sprinter Liranyi Alonso<\/strong> leads the list of individual athletes with the highest incentives. The Dominican athlete won four gold medals in the track and field competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alonso won the 100 and 200 meters, in addition to being part of the teams that won gold in the mixed 4×100 relay and the women’s 4×100 relay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her four gold medals, the athlete will receive RD$1.2 million<\/strong> in government incentives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another highlight was Paolo Pigozzi<\/strong>, in water skiing, who won two gold medals and one bronze. His results would represent RD$700,000<\/strong> in incentives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, tennis player Nick Hardt<\/strong>, winner of two gold medals, one in singles and another in the Nations Cup, will receive RD$600,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incentives for team sports<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the case of team sports, the scheme establishes incentives of RD$3.2 million for gold, RD$2.8 million for silver, and RD$1.6 million for bronze<\/strong>, amounts that will be distributed among the members of each team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the disciplines included in this category are 5×5 basketball, indoor volleyball, rugby, handball, and softball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dominican teams that won medals and will receive incentives are men’s softball<\/strong>, with gold; women’s volleyball<\/strong>, with gold; men’s basketball<\/strong>, with silver; women’s basketball<\/strong>, with bronze; women’s handball<\/strong>, with silver; men’s handball<\/strong>, with bronze, and rugby<\/strong>, with bronze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brenda Castillo will receive additional incentives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The captain and libero of the women’s national volleyball team, Brenda Castillo<\/strong>, is also among the athletes who will receive the greatest benefits for their performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the incentive corresponding to the medal obtained by the team, Castillo was recognized during the tournament as best libero, best defender, and best receiver<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The director of Women’s National Teams, Crist\u00f3bal Marte<\/strong>, announced that he would contribute to the team members an amount equivalent to the incentive granted by the Ministry of Sports for the gold medal, in addition to awarding RD$250,000<\/strong> for each of the individual distinctions obtained by the players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coaches will also receive incentives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The award scheme also includes the coaches of the medal-winning athletes. They will receive RD$200,000 for gold, RD$100,000 for silver, and RD$75,000 for bronze<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike athletes, the achievements of coaches will not be cumulative, so only the highest value medal obtained by the athletes under their responsibility will be taken into account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final amount that will be allocated to the coaches has not yet been specified, as it is pending the determination of the total number of technicians who will be benefited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surpass San Salvador 2023 incentives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The incentives established for the Santo Domingo 2026<\/strong> medalists exceed the amounts awarded by the Dominican Government after the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Sports had initially announced the incentive scheme on July 15 and subsequently, on July 29, unveiled the modality through which the resources would be delivered to the medalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dominican delegation closed its participation in Santo Domingo 2026 with a historic performance, winning 150 medals<\/strong>, consolidating itself among the main sports powers of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
