{"id":520909,"date":"2026-08-11T14:29:04","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T18:29:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/minerd-awaits-response-from-the-comptroller-to-manage-pending-payments-to-contractors\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T14:29:04","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T18:29:04","slug":"minerd-awaits-response-from-the-comptroller-to-manage-pending-payments-to-contractors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/en\/dominican-news\/minerd-awaits-response-from-the-comptroller-to-manage-pending-payments-to-contractors\/","title":{"rendered":"MINERD awaits response from the comptroller to manage pending payments to contractors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Santo Domingo.\u2013 Cecilio Compr\u00e9s<\/strong>, representative and spokesperson for the <strong>school contractors<\/strong> of the Dominican Republic, reported that the <strong>Ministry of Education (MINERD)<\/strong> is awaiting a response from the <strong>General Comptroller of the Republic<\/strong> to advance the procedures related to the payment of bank interest claimed by the contractors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Compr\u00e9s offered the statements after a meeting with MINERD authorities, held following the protest led this Tuesday by dozens of school contractors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As explained, during the meeting the authorities reported that <strong>there is a communication sent by the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps<\/strong>, to the Comptroller General on July 8, but that so far it has not received a response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You may be interested in: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/nacionales\/borrador-automatico-7contratistas-reclaman-al-minerd-devolucion-de-unos-rd113-millones-retenidos-desde-2013-2014\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/nacionales\/borrador-automatico-7contratistas-reclaman-al-minerd-devolucion-de-unos-rd113-millones-retenidos-desde-2013-2014\/\">Contractors demand MINERD return some RD$113 million withheld since 2013-2014<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Before Friday they will give us an answer as to when they are going to meet with the comptroller to find a solution,&#8221; stated Compr\u00e9s, who clarified that this does not mean that the payments will be made this same week.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The spokesperson indicated that the MINERD committed to insisting on coordinating a meeting with the Comptroller&#8217;s Office to seek a solution to the claim for bank interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, he indicated that they received information about a new list that includes at least 15 contractors, whose cases will be delivered to the sector representatives so that they can verify the corresponding results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Claim for withholdings<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another topic addressed during the meeting was the claim related to Law 6-86. Compr\u00e9s maintained that this point does not depend on the Comptroller&#8217;s Office, but rather must be resolved administratively by the Ministry of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained that <strong>the contractors hope to meet again with the MINERD legal department<\/strong> before Friday to address the case, which they claim they have been discussing with the authorities since May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Compr\u00e9s, the claimed resources had been improperly deducted or withheld by the financial department, so the contractors are awaiting an administrative solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>They warn that if their demands are not met, they will resume protests<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Compr\u00e9s warned that the contractors will evaluate the responses offered by the authorities over the next few days and, if by the end of the week they do not see concrete progress toward a solution, <strong>they will resume their protest schedule.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The leader stated that some of the claims date back to 2014 and that for years they have requested answers from different administrations. \u201cIf we do not see the vision that they are going to pay us, we are going to continue with our program of days of struggle,\u201d he expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is recalled that the Union of Contracted Professionals of the MINERD (UCOCOMI) demanded from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ministeriodeeducacion.gob.do\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MINERD<\/a> the <strong>return of approximately RD$113 million corresponding to bank interest<\/strong> and other withholdings that, according to the organization, were <strong>deducted from engineers and contractors<\/strong> in charge of the construction of educational centers since the years 2013 and 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Santo Domingo.\u2013 Cecilio Compr\u00e9s, representative and spokesperson for the school contractors of the Dominican Republic, reported that the Ministry of Education (MINERD) is awaiting a response from the General Comptroller of the Republic to advance the procedures related to the payment of bank interest claimed by the contractors.
