Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2014 The former Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, stated this Tuesday that the then-judge of the Supreme Court of Justice, Miriam Germ\u00e1n Brito<\/strong>, came to his office to request that she be ratified in her position, a revelation that, he asserted, he is making public for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During an interview on the program \u201cDespierta con la X\u201d<\/strong>, Rodr\u00edguez maintained that he never had bad intentions against Germ\u00e1n Brito and denied that any confrontation, questioning, or dispute existed between them before that meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI do not have bad intentions, neither with that person nor with anyone, I have never had them,\u201d stated the former attorney general when referring to his relationship with the former attorney general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rodr\u00edguez reported that the meeting took place when Germ\u00e1n Brito was serving as a judge of the Supreme Court of Justice and that there is evidence that she visited his office. According to his version, during the conversation, the magistrate allegedly asked him to confirm her in the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former official described the episode as a \u201cfirst\u201d and explained that he responded to the request by warning him that there were various issues that could raise questions if he decided to expose himself publicly to the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are countless issues with you. You shouldn’t expose yourself because if you do, you will be questioned for these situations,\u201d Rodriguez claimed he told her at that moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the former attorney general’s account, Germ\u00e1n Brito responded that she had no objections to being questioned and that she was willing to answer any questions that might arise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd she said: I don’t care, question me\u201d, recounted Rodriguez during the interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former attorney general maintained that subsequently, questions arose related to Germ\u00e1n Brito and other matters that, as he explained, became part of the public scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rodr\u00edguez’s statements revive an episode involving two figures who later starred in one of the main institutional clashes recorded in the Dominican Public Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rodr\u00edguez was at the head of the Attorney General’s Office between 2016 and 2020<\/strong>, while Germ\u00e1n Brito held that position between 2020 and 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former attorney general insisted that, according to his version, there was no prior conflict with Germ\u00e1n Brito and that his questioning was not a response to personal animosity, but rather to situations that, in his view, could raise questions regarding an eventual ratification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
