Hemedan<\/strong>, who reportedly pleaded not guilty following his arrest. Police said the incident occurred Sunday afternoon at the Corning Preserve boat launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the preliminary investigation, Hemedan allegedly <strong>strangled his sister while she was behind the wheel<\/strong>, causing the vehicle to leave the ramp and fall into the river. After the car entered the water, police allege that he pulled the woman from the submerged vehicle and <strong>attempted to drown her by holding her head underwater<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A bystander helped remove the woman from the water and performed CPR after noticing that her lips had turned blue. She was taken to <strong>Albany Medical Center Hospital<\/strong>, where she was reported to be in stable condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hemedan was taken into custody at the scene and remains detained. A court order also prohibits him from contacting his sister. He is scheduled to return to court on <strong>August 14<\/strong>.
