An episode of extreme violence shook Hopkins<\/strong>, in Minnesota<\/strong>, this Wednesday, when<\/a> the police found two adults and a girl dead at a home daycare, after a father arrived at the scene to drop off his child and alerted authorities about the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>The investigation was also linked to another crime reported in Burnsville<\/strong>. Around 12:00, authorities received a report of a stabbing<\/strong> at a home in the town. Upon arrival, they found a 78-year-old woman<\/strong> dead, who is believed to be a relative of the victims found in Hopkins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brown Bear Childcare<\/strong> operated in the home and there were six other children, who were unharmed and were reunited with their families, ABC News<\/em> specified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Hopkins Police Chief, Brent Johnson<\/strong>, stated: \u201cThere is no worse scenario than this: you leave your child in a place you believe is safe and you receive that call<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, he clarified that the event is believed to have been an isolated incident<\/strong> and that no threat to the community was identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The researchers’ initial hypothesis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The case came to light when a father arrived at the daycare<\/strong> to drop off his child and encountered the scene inside the home<\/strong>. Consequently, an emergency alert was triggered and the police deployed an operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers arrived at the house located on Tyler Avenue North shortly after 9 a.m. The preliminary reconstruction suggests that the man had first murdered his wife and daughter<\/strong> before taking his own life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a press conference, authorities reported that the man had a gunshot wound<\/strong>, while the woman and the girl died from stab wounds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The identities of the deceased were not disclosed. Public records indicate that the deceased woman and man were 41 years old and the girl was 7 years old, reported The Minnesota Star Tribune.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were six other children at the daycare, who were unharmed and were reunited with their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities are attempting to establish which weapons were used to commit the deaths and refrained from specifying the exact cause of the fatalities. It is not yet clear if there was a history of domestic violence in the family environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to state records, the daycare has been licensed since 2019 and can accommodate up to 10 children<\/strong>. Inspections conducted in 2023, 2024, and 2025 confirmed that it was in compliance with regulations, reported Associated Press.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reaction of the police and the authorities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hopkins Police Chief, Brent Johnson<\/strong>, described what happened as \u201ca horrible and tragic situation for any community, <\/strong>especially here in Hopkins, where we don’t usually see these types of crimes\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then he added: \u201cThe impact is felt not only here, but everywhere, for all parents who have a child in daycare or anywhere where they do not have direct control over them. It is heartbreaking<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When journalists asked him at a press conference about the crime scene, the chief replied: \u201cThis is one of those cases you will remember throughout your career<\/strong>, if not forever\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public records indicate that the two adults were 41 years old and the girl was 7 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hopkins is a city of about 20,000 inhabitants and is located approximately 16 kilometers west of Minneapolis. Mayor Patrick Hanlon<\/strong> lamented: \u201cWe are a small community and we all know each other. There are no strangers here, so we are all shocked by this news\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
