Seville (Spain).-<\/em><\/strong> Forward Juan Camilo ‘Cucho’ Hern\u00e1ndez and midfielder Nelson Deossa, the two Colombians on the Betis squad, encouraged everyone this Thursday, both from their country and abroad, to show solidarity and send aid to those affected by the earthquake <\/a>of magnitude 7.4 that struck this South American country last Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Colombian people are very united when these situations happen. As they say out there, ‘unity is strength’, I think today is when we must be most united. Obviously, we from here support with what we can. We would like to be there, physically, to be able to help lift a block, but it is what we have to do and always wishing the best for everyone. Let’s hope they can find the people who are missing and that they can be alive”, <\/em><\/strong>stated Deossa in statements provided by the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The midfielder invited people “to join this great and noble cause,” arguing that “every little bit, every drop helps a lot, and even more so now when it is needed most,” which is why he insisted on “asking you from the heart to help with this great cause, may God bless you greatly for it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cucho, for his part, argued that “now they are entering the reconstruction phase. There was a lot of damage, many collapsed buildings, many businesses, people’s homes who are sleeping on the street” and that is why now is when “we must help much more”.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have personally already helped with what corresponds to us. We invite all Colombians and non-Colombians, those who want to contribute from a distance, you are welcome. Every little bit helps and we will surely appreciate it,” he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“From a distance we cannot help in a certain way, but we can help financially. We have already helped with something, but I think we are still in time to invite people to help us,” he reiterated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both footballers agreed on highlighting their sadness for what happened, as well as the relief of knowing that their family and friends are well, although they pointed out that they feel the helplessness of not being there to help closely, so they send strength to those affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cucho recalled that Pereira, his hometown, is one of the areas most devastated by this earthquake and recounted that he had “a couple of friends who hadn’t appeared all day, but thank God they showed up at night,” while Deossa, a native of Marmato, specified that his area has been less affected.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
