Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2014 Two people were arrested during an operation against illegal electrical connections<\/strong> in the La Gu\u00e1yiga sector, near Merca Santo Domingo, Edesur Dominicana reported this Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the electricity distribution company, the arrests occurred when those involved were caught on top of a bucket truck<\/strong>, while allegedly making direct and irregular connections to the electrical grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the operation, the authorities seized the tools that, according to the report, were used to carry out the illegal connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Illegal electrical connections dismantled<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As part of the same operation, several warehouses that were irregularly connected to the electrical distribution network were dismantled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edesur Dominicana reported that these actions are part of the operations it carries out to detect and eliminate illegal connections that affect the electrical infrastructure and the regular supply of energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clandestine connections represent a risk both for those who make them and for people in the surrounding area, due to the possibility of causing electrical accidents, fires, and damage to distribution networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Detainees remain in police custody<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After being arrested, the two men were taken to the police station at kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highway<\/strong><\/a>, where they remained in the custody of the corresponding authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company did not initially offer details regarding the identity of those detained or the possible sanctions they could face for the investigated actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The procedure seeks to establish the corresponding responsibilities and determine the circumstances under which the direct connections to the electrical grid were made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
