Editorial<\/strong>.- The president of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella<\/a><\/em>,<\/strong> dismissed five ambassadors this Friday who did not submit their protocol resignation when the constitutional term of former president Gustavo Petro,<\/strong> who appointed them during his administration, ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dismissed Colombian diplomats are Guillermo Francisco Reyes Gonz\u00e1lez, ambassador to Sweden; Vilma Roc\u00edo Vel\u00e1squez Uribe, ambassador to Haiti; Yennifer Edilma Parra Moscoso, ambassador to Turkey; Juan Manuel Corzo Rom\u00e1n, ambassador to Paraguay, and William Sidney Bush Howard, ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The De la Espriella administration, which was inaugurated a week ago in Cali, explained in a statement that the majority of Colombia’s ambassadors submitted their protocol resignations and made their positions available before the end of Petro’s term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, five ambassadors did not submit their protocol resignation. Consequently, President Abelardo de la Espriella, in the exercise of his constitutional and legal powers, ordered the following appointments to be declared insubsistent\u00bb, he detailed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Foreign Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio issued an instruction on July 22, two weeks before De la Espriella’s inauguration on August 7,<\/strong> in compliance with Article 91 of Decree Law 274, which establishes that “the heads of diplomatic missions must submit their resignation from their positions” upon the conclusion of the term of the Government in which they were appointed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
