The proceedings involve extradition requests made by judicial authorities from the United States, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Panama.

Among those extradited is Jorge Luis Mojica Ortiz, a Dominican-Colombian citizen claimed by the Dominican Republic for a case related to aggravated sexual assault of a minor.

According to the information released, Mojica Ortiz must be transferred to the Dominican Republic to answer to the country’s judicial authorities for the acts attributed to him.

Extraditions for different crimes

The other people included in the resolutions are facing investigations related to drug trafficking and attempted homicide.

Two of those required by the United States are Armando Luis Suárez Calvo and Didier Ignacio García, both identified in investigations linked to drug trafficking.

Suárez Calvo is linked by U.S. authorities to criminal organizations such as Los Pepes and the Gulf Clan, while García is accused of sending cocaine to the United States using fruit exports to conceal the substance.

Another of those under investigation, Diego Alberto Londoño, will be extradited to Peru, where he faces an indictment for aggravated illicit drug trafficking. According to the information released, he has no open cases in Colombia and was arrested at the request of the Peruvian authorities.

The fifth case corresponds to Roderick Aldair Morales Delgado, who is wanted by Panama for an investigation related to attempted aggravated homicide.

First extraditions of the new Government

The authorizations are part of the first decisions of this nature adopted by the Colombian president since he took office on August 7.

De la Espriella has placed security and the fight against crime among the priorities of his administration and has promised a policy of greater firmness against criminal organizations and illegal armed groups.

The extradition of Mojica Ortiz will allow the Dominican authorities to continue the corresponding judicial process in national territory. Once his transfer is finalized, he must be placed at the disposal of the competent authorities of the Dominican Republic.

Presidential authorization does not in itself constitute a conviction against those extradited, but rather allows for their transfer to the country claiming them so that they may face the corresponding judicial proceedings for the acts attributed to them.

The authorization of these extraditions occurs within the framework of judicial cooperation mechanisms between Colombia and the countries that have requested the surrender of the individuals under investigation. These procedures allow persons required by foreign courts to be transferred to answer for the proceedings opened against them.

In the case of Jorge Luis Mojica Ortiz, the request from the Dominican Republic is related to an investigation for aggravated sexual assault against a minor. His eventual transfer will allow the process to continue before the Dominican authorities and for the requested person to answer for the acts attributed to him.

The Colombian authorities must now complete the necessary administrative and security procedures to carry out the handovers. The extradition process involves coordination between the institutions responsible for executing the transfers and the authorities of the requesting country.

The five decisions also reflect the intention of the new Colombian Government to maintain international cooperation in the prosecution of crimes considered to be of high severity, especially those related to drug trafficking, violence, and organized crime.

Bogota,.- The President of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, authorized the first five extraditions of his administration, including that of a Dominican-Colombian citizen claimed by the authorities of the Dominican Republic for a case of aggravated sexual assault against a minor.
