{"id":521647,"date":"2026-08-14T20:01:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T00:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/driver-who-struck-a-digesett-agent-in-the-national-district-sentenced-to-two-years-in-prison\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T20:01:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T00:01:10","slug":"driver-who-struck-a-digesett-agent-in-the-national-district-sentenced-to-two-years-in-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/en\/uncategorized\/driver-who-struck-a-digesett-agent-in-the-national-district-sentenced-to-two-years-in-prison\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver who struck a Digesett agent in the National District sentenced to two years in prison"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2013 A court sentenced a man to two years in prison after he was found guilty of hitting an agent of the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety <a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"674892\"> (Digesett),<\/a> after ignoring a red traffic light and subsequently fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The incident occurred on August 24, 2025, in Ensanche Luper\u00f3n, National District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sentence was handed down by the Eighth Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance of the National District against Otilio Pi\u00f1a De La Cruz, who must also pay RD$1 million to the victim, Ariel Mueses Jos\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court also ordered the forfeiture of the vehicle used in the incident in favor of the Dominican State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the trial, the Public Prosecutor&#8217;s Office, represented by litigating prosecutor Carlenny Camilo, presented testimonial, documentary, expert, illustrative, and audiovisual evidence with which it supported the criminal liability of the accused and the legal classification of attempted homicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the investigation conducted by the District National prosecutor, Esther S\u00e1nchez, Pi\u00f1a De La Cruz was traveling through Ensanche Luper\u00f3n when he ignored the red traffic light signal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We recommend reading: <a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/nacionales\/dictan-tres-meses-de-prision-4\/\">Three months of preventive prison ordered against three individuals involved in attack on Digesett agents at Cibao Airport<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the file, a Digesett agent signaled him to stop.
