Guatemala<\/strong>.- The bodies of two young people with signs of violence and wrapped in plastic bags were found this Tuesday in the south of the Guatemalan capital, in another violent incident in the Central American country, which has recorded more than 90 similar findings so far this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteer Firefighter rescuers reported the discovery of the victims on a public road in the south of the city, after responding to an alert from neighbors and inspecting the area together with the National Civil Police (PNC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relatives identified the deceased, aged 19 and 18, who had been missing after being kidnapped on Monday from nearby soccer fields, according to local media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Official data from security forces account for more than 90 discoveries of bodies abandoned in bags, sheets, or vehicle trunks so far in 2026, a figure that far exceeds the 39 cases recorded during all of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weeks ago, the Minister of the Interior, Marco Antonio Villeda, said that Guatemalan authorities would restructure their security strategies due to an increase in violence, after two massacres were recorded over a weekend that left at least 11 dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to experts on the subject, violence in Guatemala originates from gangs, drug trafficking, and common crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
