Santo Domingo.-<\/strong> The Metropolitan Bus Service Operator<\/strong><\/a> (OMSA)<\/strong> suspended special transport services through the loan of buses for urban and interurban services requested by institutions and individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entity reported that the measure seeks to preserve its operational capacity and guarantee the continuity, efficiency, and quality of the urban public transport service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OMSA <\/strong>explained that its fleet currently shows a high level of deterioration, which is why it is in a recovery process through a preventive and corrective maintenance program aimed at progressively restoring the institution’s operational capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entity pointed out that the decision is also part of the OMSA’s institutional transformation and strengthening process as a public company, which implies responsible management of its resources and assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In that context, he indicated that human, technical, financial, and material capabilities must be concentrated on guaranteeing the sustainability of its main operation and meeting the daily demand of public transport users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executive vice president of OMSA, On\u00e9ximo Gonz\u00e1lez, explained that the announcement seeks to avoid inconveniences and annoyances derived from sending bus requests for special activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gonz\u00e1lez thanked the understanding and collaboration of the people and institutions that may be affected by the provision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OMSA <\/strong>urged public institutions, private companies, organizations, educational centers, social entities, and citizens who need special urban or interurban transport services to hire specialized and duly authorized companies to offer those types of services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspension occurs while the entity works on the recovery of its fleet, with the goal of prioritizing available resources toward its main function: guaranteeing regular urban public transport service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA)<\/strong> is a public company in charge of offering collective bus transport service in different areas of the country, with a special presence in Greater Santo Domingo and Santiago<\/strong>. Its main function is to facilitate the daily commute of thousands of users and complement other public transport system alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OMSA is part of the reorganization and modernization process of Dominican public transport, which in recent years has included the incorporation of new units, maintenance programs, and efforts to improve service efficiency.
