London<\/strong>.- A passenger train has derailed this Thursday in Lewes, in the East Sussex region, in the south of England, without the accident causing any deaths or serious injuries, according to sources from the Department for Transport told several British media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The train, from the company Southern Rail, was covering the route between Haywards Heath and Lewes (part of the Brighton-London line). As a consequence of the accident, several of that company’s lines have been cut, and the rest are suffering serious delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The convoy consisted of eight cars, and it was the three rear cars that derailed and ended up overturned on the side of the track, for reasons still unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An image from a helicopter and broadcast by the BBC shows three overturned carriages. In another image taken from social media, emergency personnel can be seen perched on top of the carriages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A passenger from one of the carriages that remained on the tracks told the BBC that they saw other passengers bleeding and with cuts, but they all left the carriages on their own two feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newspaper The Sun believes it knows that forty passengers were trapped in the overturned carriages at first, before being able to be evacuated<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accident occurred on the hottest day of 2026, with thermometers reaching 38.1 degrees Celsius in a London park. Precisely the area where the accident took place has been one of the most affected by today’s heatwave.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
