Santo Domingo.\u2013<\/strong> The Government of Honduras is evaluating the acquisition of Dulus aircraft<\/strong> and armored tactical vehicles assembled in the Dominican Republic as part of its plans to expand the operational capabilities of its security and defense agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honduran President Nasry Asfura<\/strong> confirmed that the topic was discussed with his Dominican counterpart, Luis Abinader<\/a><\/strong>, during the official visit he made to the country over the weekend. The Central American leader showed particular interest in the Dulus aircraft<\/strong> and the Furia armored vehicles developed by the Dominican military industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The potential acquisitions would be intended for the National Police and the Military Police of Honduras, mainly for patrol duties and response to organized crime and other security threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asfura learned about some of this equipment during a tour of the San Isidro Air Base, where he received explanations regarding the assembly process of the Dulus aircraft<\/strong>. He also observed the Furia vehicles, designed and assembled by the Dominican Military Industry (Indom).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dulus aircraft under evaluation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Honduran president indicated that he has already spoken with Abinader about the possibility of accessing Dulus aircraft<\/strong> and other equipment, and valued the development achieved by the Dominican Republic in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expression of interest, however, does not represent a purchase agreement at this time<\/strong>. The joint statement issued at the end of the visit does not establish quantities of aircraft or vehicles, prices, contracts, or dates for a potential acquisition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dulus and Furia Aircraft<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During his stay, Asfura also toured the Dajab\u00f3n border area with Abinader, where he learned about the infrastructure and technologies used by the Dominican Republic for the surveillance and protection of the border line with Haiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Honduran president considered that the Dominican experience can serve as a reference for other countries in Central America and the Caribbean, while Abinader expressed the willingness to share the capabilities and technologies developed by the nation in terms of security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asfura’s official visit also included bilateral meetings at the National Palace and conversations regarding trade, investment, tourism, security, migration, and other areas of cooperation between the Dominican Republic and Honduras.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
