The School Infrastructure Directorate assured that it will continue with the construction of new classrooms for the initial, basic, and high school levels throughout the national territory<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Santo Domingo.- <\/em><\/strong>The Dominican Government, through the School Infrastructure Directorate (DIE) of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic<\/em><\/strong> (MINERD<\/a>), simultaneously delivered 186 initial classrooms in the National District and 25 provinces, which will benefit more than 6,500 students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new facilities were built as part of the actions aimed at strengthening the response capacity of the national education system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the recent start of the 2026-2027 school year, the massive delivery of classrooms, carried out under the instructions of President Luis Abinader, seeks to guarantee more spaces for preschool and pre-primary students throughout the national territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

24\/7 Initial Classrooms<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new initial classrooms are part of the works executed by the Government within the framework of the \u201cAulas 24\/7-365\u201d (Classrooms 24\/7-365) Plan, explained the Director of School Infrastructure, engineer Roberto Herrera, who highlighted that they represent a response for students, teachers, administrative staff, and the educational community in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Herrera reported that the investment allocated for the 186 classrooms exceeds RD$800 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official stated that these works ratify the commitment of President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, to prioritize the strengthening of the educational system through the creation of more and better physical spaces, which are adequate and safe for students and teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe goal that the 24-7 plan has set for this school year is about 1,500 classrooms. The projection we have so far, now in September, is that we are going to exceed 1,600 classrooms. But this does not stop here, the 24-7 plan does not stop and we will simply continue delivering new classrooms,\u201d indicated Herrera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the director of Early Childhood Education at MINERD, Elvira de la Cruz, highlighted that the incorporation of new educational spaces for boys and girls aged 3, 4, and 5 responds to the right of children to access early education from the age of three and to the national commitment to offer comprehensive, quality care from early childhood, in accordance with General Education Law No. 66-97.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initial classrooms by province<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new initial classrooms were distributed as follows: six in the National District; 20 in the Santo Domingo province; eight in Azua; one in San Jos\u00e9 de Ocoa; 11 in Independencia; two in Bahoruco; three in Barahona; four between Montecristi and Dajab\u00f3n; 10 between Duarte and Hermanas Mirabal; 10 in Espaillat; five in Hato Mayor; 16 in La Vega, and four between Saman\u00e1 and Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, seven were delivered in La Altagracia; two in La Romana; 11 in El Seibo; five in Monte Plata; 10 in Puerto Plata; 14 between San Crist\u00f3bal and Peravia; nine in San Juan; seven in San Pedro de Macor\u00eds; two in S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez, and 17 in Valverde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the main inauguration ceremony, held at the Casa de la Providencia educational center in the Ensanche La Fe sector of the National District, those present included Eddy Ch\u00e1vez, director of the Regional Education Office 15; representatives of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP); the Association of Parents, Mothers, Guardians, and Friends of the School (APMAE); religious leaders, and community representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Educational centers continue to be intervened<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When questioned about the educational centers that remain under renovation after the start of the school year, Herrera explained that the maintenance component of the plan operates throughout the entire year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He indicated that School Infrastructure is working on campuses that required maintenance interventions and that a portion of these has already been completely delivered for the development of classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The director of the DIE pointed out that the maintenance of educational centers will no longer be limited to vacation periods, but will be carried out continuously, including weekends and shifts from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The School Infrastructure Directorate assured that it will continue with the construction of new classrooms for preschool, primary, and high school levels throughout the national territory, as well as corrective maintenance work, to expand the availability of spaces and strengthen existing public educational structures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
