DUM Editorial<\/strong>.- Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that it attacked three oil tankers on “unauthorized routes” in the Strait of Hormuz this Saturday and three vessels linked to the U.S. in “other areas”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fars agency statement details that the Iranian Aerospace Force also attacked an aircraft carrier and a United States Navy destroyer with ballistic missiles in response to the US military’s aggression against three Iranian oil tankers on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, the Islamic Republic Navy warned all vessels in the Persian Gulf or near the Strait of Hormuz to “refrain from any suspicious movement intended to transit through unauthorized maritime routes. Otherwise, they will be attacked<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U.S. Attack<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The United States military attack came after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched ballistic missiles at two U.S. Navy warships patrolling the region’s waters, U.S. Central Command (Centcom) reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Centcom detailed that a United States aircraft carrier and a guided-missile destroyer “successfully evaded multiple Iranian attacks<\/strong>” and no U.S. personnel were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hours later, the Iranian Foreign Ministry “strongly condemned<\/strong>” the attacks against “Iranian merchant ships in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman” and considered it a violation of the United Nations Charter and a “war crime<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. attacks this Saturday come after Washington launched its heaviest bombardment in over a month this week against the Islamic Republic, which left at least 19 dead, including four at a wedding, according to Iranian authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tehran responded with bombings against Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, according to them, targeting U.S. military bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz after the war began on February 28 and has turned it into its main pressure tactic in the conflict, as it has managed to paralyze almost all oil exports, and where it demands that ships wishing to cross it obtain its permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
