Tegucigalpa<\/strong>.- Three women were murdered by armed men who entered a home in the central region of Honduras, bringing the total number of women killed violently so far in 2026 to 184, reported the spokesperson for the Ministry of Security, Edgardo Barahona, this Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The multiple homicide was recorded in the Las Acacias sector of the El Porvenir municipality, in the department of Francisco Moraz\u00e1n, about 100 kilometers north of Tegucigalpa, Barahona indicated to local media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initial investigations indicate that the victims did not reside in the area and had arrived on Saturday to visit relatives who are imprisoned at El Porvenir jail, located about two kilometers from the place where they were found dead, the spokesperson explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Barahona, the women, whose identities are still unknown, stayed overnight in the home where they were attacked, and their bodies were not found until this Sunday<\/a> morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Law enforcement forces cordoned off the home where the massacre took place, awaiting personnel from the Forensic Medicine department of the Public Ministry (Prosecutor’s Office) and investigative bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, the authorities have not established the motive for the attack nor identified those responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this case, the number of women who have lost their lives violently in Honduras this year rose to 184, according to official data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly 8,600 women have been murdered in Honduras between 2002 and August 2026, a scenario that reflects the urgency for the State to adopt immediate measures to curb a spiral of violence that has brought mourning to thousands of families in the Central American country for more than two decades, according to the National Commissioner for Human Rights (Conadeh).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
