Russian President Vladimir Putin gave U.S. President Donald Trump what Moscow described as an \u201cobjective and detailed\u201d assessment of the situation in the area of combat operations, according to Russian presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two leaders spoke by phone for exactly one hour<\/strong> in a conversation Ushakov described as constructive and frank. They positively assessed the results of trips to Moscow and Kyiv by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on September 5 and 6 and discussed steps Washington could take to help bring an early end to hostilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trump expressed interest in making progress toward resolving the conflict during his presidency<\/strong>. According to Ushakov, the U.S. president said ending the fighting could open broad prospects for fully restoring relations between Russia and the United States, particularly commercial and economic ties that could bring significant benefits to both countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Putin supported the possibility of building a constructive partnership between the two powers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the call, Putin also stressed that Moscow has no plans for aggression against Europe<\/strong> and argued that claims of a Russian threat are being used to justify increased European support for Ukraine and higher military spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The leaders also agreed to continue discussions on humanitarian issues, including exchanges of prisoners and convicted individuals.
