Los Angeles<\/strong>.- The producers of ‘The Walking Dead’ will receive $120 million in compensation following a nine-year legal battle over the series’ profits against the television network AMC, which was accused of hiding the earnings from the franchise’s participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Settlement Agreement provides for total consideration of $120 million for the plaintiffs, consisting of a cash payment of $85 million by September 18, 2026, and $35 million to be paid no later than January 31, 2027<\/strong>,” the company indicated in a statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This final payment will be provided as an advance against future profit participation related to ‘The Walking Dead’ and the spin-off series ‘Fear The Walking Dead’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This resolution, which was reached amicably between both parties on September 4th, puts an end to a legal battle that spanned nearly a decade between AMC and the producers of ‘The Walking Dead’, considered the television network’s most successful franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the lawsuit, the series creator, Robert Kirkman, and several of its producers, alleged a breach by the media conglomerate of “honoring its contractual obligations to the creative personnel, the ‘talent’ in industry parlance, behind a long-running, enormously profitable, and extremely successful television series.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This multi-million dollar agreement is in addition to the one reached in 2021, in one of the multiple complaints from producers, and in which the company paid out another 200 million dollars to settle the litigation it had with director Frank Darabont and his talent agency for a similar<\/a> case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
