The cause of the blaze remains unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aksu Mayor Isa Yildirim said <strong>Hasan Kahya<\/strong>, an Aksu resident who was assisting firefighters, suffered a heart attack attributed to smoke inhalation and later died at a hospital. Two other people were hospitalized Tuesday with burns to their legs, while six others received medical attention for smoke inhalation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 100 dogs were also evacuated from an animal shelter in Aksu as authorities worked to protect animals affected by the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turkey\u2019s forestry agency said firefighting operations continued Wednesday, although the intensity of the blaze had been reduced. At least <strong>three firefighting aircraft, nine helicopters, 169 fire trucks and more than 1,000 personnel<\/strong> were deployed, according to reports from the state-run Anadolu news agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Firefighters were also battling another wildfire in <strong>Kozan<\/strong>, in the southern province of Adana, where hundreds of residents were evacuated as a precaution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A volunteer firefighter died Wednesday while helping emergency crews battle a major wildfire in Antalya, on Turkey\u2019s Mediterranean coast, according to officials.
