Santo Domingo.- <\/strong>The Embassy of Italy in the Dominican Republic<\/strong> presented this Friday the first edition of the photography contest \u201cMoments of Italy: Italy through the Dominican gaze\u201d, <\/em>an initiative that seeks to discover and celebrate the way in which Dominicans perceive and represent Italy <\/strong>through images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative was presented during an evening led by the Italian ambassador to the country, Sergio Maffettone,<\/strong> who highlighted the value of photography as a bridge to bring both cultures closer and generate new forms of exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, allied institutions, special guests, and the media<\/strong>, who learned about the details of this project that invites Dominicans to capture, from their own perspective, the essence, culture, landscapes, traditions, and influence of Italy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was hosted by communicator Mar\u00eda Ang\u00e9lica Ure\u00f1a,<\/strong> who guided the evening’s proceedings and the presentation of the details for this first edition of the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the activity, a special message was projected from Celin\u00e9s Toribio<\/strong>, ambassador, vice minister, and executive director of the Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX),<\/strong> who highlighted the importance of promoting initiatives that strengthen identity, cultural exchange, and the ties between both nations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, Ambassador Sergio Maffeo<\/strong> offered the keynote remarks of the meeting, highlighting that this contest represents an opportunity to further strengthen the historical and cultural relationship between Italy and the Dominican Republic, while fostering the creativity and talent of Dominican photographers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity was also attended by Mr. \u00c1ngelo Viro, president of the Casa de Italia, and Nicole Medina, <\/strong>Communications advisor to the Vice Ministry for Dominican Communities<\/strong> Abroad, who attended on behalf of the ambassador, vice minister, and executive director of INDEX, Celin\u00e9s Toribio. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the main attractions of this first edition are the prizes awarded to recognize the best photographic proposals. Among the prizes are two air flights to Italy<\/strong>, thanks to Neos Air,<\/strong> in addition to other awards and special surprises for the participants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The names of the winners will be officially announced by the Embassy of Italy<\/strong> during the month of December, as part of the closing of this first edition of the contest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the evening, attendees enjoyed a toast and a special performance by violinist Eva Camaro<\/strong>, who provided an emotional musical closing to the contest launch, creating an atmosphere inspired by Italy’s cultural and artistic richness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
