Santo Domingo.\u2013<\/strong> The Public Ministry detailed in the request for a coercive measure how the incident occurred that ended in the death of Emmanuel Contreras Medina<\/strong>, who passed away on September 9 after remaining in a coma and under intensive care for several days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As established in the file, the case originated from an alleged scam related to the sale of an iPhone 15 Pro Max 256 GB<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document notes that Lenin Jhericop N\u00fa\u00f1ez de Le\u00f3n<\/strong> posted the phone on Facebook Marketplace for RD$35,000 and was contacted by Joan Manuel Jim\u00e9nez Medina<\/strong>, who subsequently allegedly offered the same device to Contreras Medina for RD$15,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the investigation, Jim\u00e9nez Medina received the money sent by the victim via transfer and subsequently instructed them that N\u00fa\u00f1ez de Le\u00f3n would deliver the phone, so both agreed to meet at the La Javilla baseball stadium, in Los Praditos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case file maintains that Contreras Medina arrived at the location believing he would only be picking up the cell phone, as he had already made the payment. However, when he received the device and was preparing to leave, N\u00fa\u00f1ez de Le\u00f3n demanded the money from him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Public Prosecutor’s version, the victim ran away while claiming that he was being robbed. N\u00fa\u00f1ez de Le\u00f3n allegedly chased him with a bat and, upon catching up to him, struck him on the back and subsequently on the head<\/strong>, causing him to fall to the pavement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document indicates that, while Contreras Medina was on the ground, the accused allegedly took the mobile phone he was carrying in one of his pockets. The incident, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, was witnessed by bystanders and was recorded on security cameras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the incident, trainers at the site requested assistance from the 9-1-1<\/strong> system and contacted the victim’s employer, as they were traveling in a company vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contreras Medina was transferred to the Ney Arias Lora Trauma Hospital<\/strong>, where he remained in a coma and in intensive care for several days until his passing on September 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
